Ok...this is what I'm trying to do...maybe this will help narrow it down and someone can help even if you don't have the dvd. Here is the screen shot. What I want to do is take the photo and overlay it on the "frame" on the right. The tuturial says click on the layers palette and hit shift and the photo appears in the "frame". Well maybe on their computer...but not on mine....what am I missing??

Have you tried drag and dropping it on the layer it wants you to?
I have this and have made it work the first time.... but it is a bit confusing at first! I have not used mine in several months! If I get a chance I will try it later tonight or tomorrow.... if time permits.

later,

Thanks...but no that doesn't work, because when you go to do the clipping mask, nothing happens. When you click on the clipping mask, it is suppose to show the frame around the photo,...thanks for trying...

Actually Angel is right. All the graphics authority stuff with clipping masks works the same way. Just drag your image to where it says your photo here.

the deal with shift and click is if you drag your image layer to the frame window, pressing shift while you do that centers your image in the frame. You may still have to move your image layer up or down depending on where it shows up among the graphic authority layers in order to get it into the proper position.

Sorry if I am missing something or if I am just stating something way too obvious, but it does not seem as though the picture on the left even has a layer on the right. If you just hit CTRL + A on the left picture, copy it, and paste it on the right picture, then that layer will be in the picture on the right. I don't know exactly what you're trying to accomplish, and I don't know what clicking shift can do for you, but CTRL + Click on the preview picture of the layer will select all of it's pixels, and you could start there if you are creating a mask.

I knew I was 70% right, but I had to mess with it some more.... since I don't play with the software enough!
A thank you would be nice!

Well actually you got a thank you..until I hit the wrong button and had to start over!!! I do appreciate the help!! But why in the world didn't they just say drag and drop in the first place??? I think I'm going to start a thread...Renae's daily adventures...seems I'm always doing something that gives someone else a good laugh, and me a good frustration!!

blame it on "Windows" that's how I get thru everything. Of course if all else fails, reboot... sometimes with a steel toe.
