Scanner software?

Now that I'm the proud owner of an Epson V700 scanner, I need to choose what software to use when operating said device to digitize negatives and slides. In the past I was using NikonScan because I felt it gave me pretty good results and I never got the hang of Vuescan Pro. Now I have my choice of the Epson software, Silverfast SE, and Vuescan Pro.

Anyone have experience and want to give their advice?

Epson Scan. That's my story & I'm sticking to it. I may not get the bestest scan ever, but I have to do almost NOTHING in Lightroom.

After following Ken Lee's advice, the quality of my scans improved dramatically.

+1 on plain ol epson scan. The Silverfast... I was pretty pumped up about it, when my scanner arrived.. and promptly dissapointed in it, in about all respects.

Once you get the hang of setting the gamma (middle slider) your scans won't need much in the way of post processing.

YMMV: I'm talking about B&W negatives. Color may be a whole other ball game.
