Help Me - 03-31-2009, 01:01 PM

I Stink at photoshop. This past year I switched to a mac and got CS4 but haven't had time to learn it. I shot a picture in raw and tried to save as JPG and it stays in photoshop. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I'm away from home and only have my mac with me.

Christine, tell me what you are trying to do? Save it in a JPEG?

Yes, I am trying to save to jpg. I did save as, named it, checked jpg, and saved. When I open it from desktop it goes back to PS. I'm pretty sure this is how I did it on my windows version at home. I am using a mac now. I'm sure it is something stupid that I am over looking. I need to take a class for the mac and CS4. If I could only find the time. Also, I am using my phone right now. Is the size of the picture I posted small or full quality?
Thanks for taking the time to look.

You said "it goes back to PS". Sounds like your saved .jpg is just being opened up by PS. If you look at the file on the desktop is it a .jpg or .psd file.

By default on Mac OS X and Photoshop CS4, double clicking on a jpg will cause it to open in Photoshop.

If you want to open the jpg in another application, you can browse to the file in finder or on the desktop, right click (or control click), select "Open With" from the pop up menu, and choose an app (for example, Preview app).

If you choose "Other" on the menu, instead of selecting an app, you get a screen where you can choose an app to "Always Open" this file type. Sort of like setting your file type association in Windows.
