Im sure there isnt anything like what Im thinking bout.....but is there a program software that will show you where exactly you focal point was at the click of the shutter....is there an option for this is CS3??

focal point in art is the point where all the "lines"are going to. It would be where the train tracks go to a point on the horizon in a photo. Since this can be done with your eyes... I'm going to guess you are asking about which dot the AF focused on.

I forgot to look, but if you have a canon.. the canon software will tell you. Use the Zoom Browser EX program. Find the picture and double click it. Along the top, you will see some icons. Click on the one that has a bunch of little squares and if you hover over it the caption says "Show AutoFocus Points". If it isn't available to click, you had AF off. If there are no points highlighted in red, you didn't actually lock onto anything. This was a random little thing I found a few days ago... weird timing!


By the way... I don't know if there is something you can use in photoshop to find it. I'm going to guess: no, because a lot of cameras have different number and placement of the points.

Remember that if you focused and recomposed, the focus point shown in ZoomBrowser won't be accurate.

DPP will also show the focus point at the time you pressed the shutter.
