Yikes! Well guys internet video tutorials are out of the question. So here is my 2 cents. Hit up Amazon.com for
Photoshop CS4: Essential Skills by Mark Galer & Philip Andrews.
I've been following this series of guides since Photoshop CS came out. The books have always started out with the basics of digital imaging such as pixel size to resolution. It goes over Bridge, Camera RAW, and how to get the most from your printer. After those chapters you'll run into a break down of Layers and Channels, Masks, Tools Palet, and the whole Photoshop Workspace.
The back of a the book has a glossary that explains common jargon used in photoshop such as...
Scratch Disk Memory - Portion of hard disk allocated to software such as Photoshop to be used as a working space.
I have a CS3 version of this book on PDF because I destroyed the paperback version due to countless use! I dont think any photoshop expert can live without some sort of photoshop book by thier side because there is so much that photoshop can do that one can NOT retain all the information. In fact, in my shop we constantly borrow different books from each other when we forget how to do a simple task such as Quick Mask.
EDIT: I forgot to also toss in
Layers: The Complete Guide To Photoshop's Most Powerful Feature. Learning how to use layers in Photoshop is an absolute MUST in order to be successful. This book will break it down like none other!
Peace!
