saturation sensitive color selection is what I need with photoshop.

so, my girl learned about the point and shoots that exist where you can choose a color and the entire picture is black and white... except for that color. If you pic red, then red shows, but also pink will barely be colored because there is a little bit of red in the color.

Is there a way to do this on photoshop? if it gets really complicated, is there an action anyone knows about?

Select > color range, and click on that color. IT will pick up whatever variations of that color that you set it to

Or you can use any selection tool to select the area you want to be in color. Then press Ctrl+Shift+I this will select reverse the selection, to select everything but the area you want in color. Now that everything else is selected you change everything else to B&W.
