retain edits when exporting Lightroom catalog? - 05-11-2009, 07:06 PM

I have 100+ gigs of RAWs that have been through LR edits that I now want to transport over to another computer.

If I export those edited RAWs using the "export as a catalog" and then imported them into the new computer, will it retain the edits?

Or is there a more efficient way to go about this?

go to catalog preferences, check xmp - and then just move the files and the xmp's?

Yes, if you export as a catalog LR will export the files and the metadata, including all edits. Just make sure you go into the Library menu and check the Include Photos from Sub Items. Then select all of the folders and export as a catalog.

It works! I was just afraid of moving all those files over just to lose the edits. So that's what "metadata" is. Thanks!
