Just wanted to offer some praise to Precision camera - 06-17-2006, 06:40 PM

Took a lens in to them today that I did not buy from them and, for free, they extracted a filter from it that a co-worker actually put on backwards. There was no way that I was able to do it by myself but they got it off in about five minutes.

Well, after offering praise to Precision, and recommending you guys to others, I now have cause to offer some criticism that I hope will be constructive.

I called up today because I needed to get some color calibration for my monitor. After doing my initial research, I figured I'd get the Spyder2Pro or the Huey. So I called down to Precision, spoke to Robert, and was told that not only do you have both in stock, but you have alot more offerings besides. After doing a bit more research online, I decided to go with the Spyder2Pro. So I drove all the way into town, fought that traffic, scooped up about 150 dollars worth of printing paper, then headed over to get the Spyder. It turns out that you DO NOT have them in stock. I wound up getting the Huey because I needed something to get SOMETHING today.

I think that you should make it policy for employees to visibly ascertain whether you have something in stock before customers drive in from Elgin only to find out that you don't have them.

The other thing is that I asked if it worked with the Vista OS and was told that it is compatible with all versions of Windows. This turned out to be untrue. I had to download the drivers from the Pantone website. It's no big deal because I am computer literate, but I depend on you guys to know your stuff and to not lead me down the wrong path.

Robert drop the ball again.........

He is only human and humans aren't perfect.

Maybe next time have him to check stock and tell him you're coming from a distance.

They always have the ink and paper I need for class at ACC, but it's quite a drive all the way from Cedar Park.

I will add also the great service from Precision Camera. I few weeks ago, Noel saved me from myself, and took several smudges from my sensor, on a Saturday afternoon. I had tried swabs, but to no avail. Noel was kind, and very understanding. While he was fixing my mistake. I was able to look around at some lenses. The sales staff was more than willing to show me the lens, and allow me to try it out on my camera when Noel was done. My cost--- NOTHING!!! So here we are 3 weeks later, and I will be buying 2 Sigma lenses next week from them. The TAMRON 70-200 2.8, and the 18-200 3.5. I could go to EBAY and get them and maybe save some money, but they have treated so well every time I have been in there. They have my business.

I thought I would follow up on this. I did buy those lenses, and Dan was great!! I also just left from there today, I took their macro class. I had a great time. Now I am saving up for the Tamron or Sigma 70-200 2.8. It will be mine!!!
