But. I have an open mind. Kinda. Sorta. Maybe.

As I recall, the metallic is the same price as the so-called real B&W paper.
print a BW on a metallic and watch it really pop

or poop.....it really depends on the image as to how much pop or poop you'll get. Yes, the chromed trains get an extra dose of pop, but even on portraits the diff is rather significant. depending on the image of course, i think landscapes offer the least improvement, abstacts with strong colorations the most.

I do have a few almost B+W + metallic that almost jump off the paper, Wayne. (almost since they aren't b+w except for the subject, ie; an old train):

I only tried the metallic on a couple of images. Hated it. But then I don't like super-glossy prints in general. I print on matte-rag or fiber-gloss (the latter being more of a semi-gloss or pearl finish than a true glossy).

Ken, the 2 B&W shots of the drivers are absolutely fantastic! I can feel the metal and smell the grease when I look at them. Thanks for sharing!

And any time you are headed to someplace with that kind of subject matter in the Houston area and want some company, let me know. I can spend hours photographing railyards, switch blocks, engine parts... you name it.

I welcome comments on any picture I post... Thanks.
