All Epson ink printers use a lot of expensive ink.
If you do not use regular you will have to head clean it with that same epensive ink.
It doe produce nice prints.
So use it regular.

Compared to other sources of prints, the Epson is rather economical. So the Ink isn't that expensive. If you have a period of time when the machine sits idle, do not turn it off, just roll back the paper and put the platten back down and leave it on. This is help prevent the heads from drying out as it keeps the seal on them. If you turn it off, the heads have a tendency to clog.

We have multiple Epsons, and we do a quick clean by holding down one of the button for 3 seconds and it cleans the heads and costs about 25 cents in ink. Maybe a little more considering the 9900 has more cartridges.
