Question Canon PIXMA Pro 9000 Mark II?? - 02-18-2010, 04:42 PM

Any of y'all using a Canon Pro 9000 Mark II? If so, what do you think of it? Would you buy another one. If not, why and what would you get next?

Thanks for your time and response.

I'm about to print a 13x19 on it right now. I'll see how it turns out. First one that large through it. We'll see...
So far though it's been great.

Well Sam, how did it do on the big print??? I just gotta know. I've been using an older HP, my bride has a 2 year old HP and altho they've both been good to us I don't look forward to loading up the glut of HP crap in my 'puters. Since the printers may go a couple of months without any use I've ruled out the Epson pigment printers and that leaves only the Canon in the running. I'm real close to pulling the trigger on this but would really like to hear your opine on this.

Thanks Sam,

Well as cheap as the 9000's are right now, it's a great time to get one. People are dumping new in box ones for as little as 250 shipped to get back a little bit from that rebate deal Canon had going for a while.
Why do you have to rule out pigment inks?

This print went well. Took maybe like, 8 minutes or something. I notice a little banding, but I'm not sure if that's from noise in the photo or from the printer sitting up for a while without running a print through. It's a great printer though. Do a search. There's a few people here with them, and a few more at POTN.

Sam, I may go a month or six weeks without printing at all. I'm afraid the heads on a pigment printer will clog sitting that long.

Do you think the banding will smooth out some as the print cures? Maybe print a 4X6 of your file just before you print the bigger one would loosen up the print head a little?

Thanks for your reply and for the pic of your printer. That's a cool puppy picture you printed.

Thanks again Sam

Thanks. Yeah, I printed a 5x7 of the same image before I printed the 13x19. I think the banding may be due to noise in the photo. Digital noise does the same pattern in an image sometimes.
I also go a month or two without printing, so maybe you're right. I don't have experience with pigment printers. But the Canon Pro9500MkII is also pigment based, but it's quite a bit more expensive.
