Print Lab Recommendations - 04-09-2010, 01:20 PM

I'm not sure if this is the right place...but it seems like it :-)

I'm wanting to start offering print services and am looking for some recommendations on printing labs. Who do y'all use? Pro's? Cons? Advice? Thanks!!!

WHCC (White House Custom Color) Pro Photo Lab: Photo Prints, Press Printed, Press Books | WHCC

does a nice job and has a full set of print options as well as boutique packaging. I use them for some things.

I also use mpix as paired up with zenfolio for most everything else

White House
Millers
Bay Photo
ACI Lab

try them all and make your decision based on the criteria you specify

everyone has different preferences, I'm personally partial to ACI and have been using them for a while and love their stuff.

I use Miller's myself right now.. never had a problem with them. Considered others, but never had a problem - so no incentive to switch.

At Texas School last year, the labs there all offered some free 16x20s... my results (as I remember them):

Miller's did great, ready next day and high quality.
The same for H&H Color Labs
WHCC lost my order, so it took them 2-3 days.
BWC had lousy color consistency
Pounds refused to print mine for free on a technicality of the offer

All in all, based on this unscientific test alone... Miller's and H&H win and WHCC is worth considering... I would not trust BWC and Pounds has lost my business forever based on poor customer service.

Just wanted to add...
Moo.com for business cards. Love their "minis".

I haven't really printed a whole lot still sorting out all the business details, including who to print with. I did try MPix and printed on metallic paper. Very nice!

Are there any local printers any of you would recommend that would have same options and quality as the online ones that were suggested?
