Hi everyone. I have a friend that bought this printer who I have been assisting. He has purchased 10.4 mil 10" roll of Premier Luster photograph paper. There are two main issues we have been unable to figure out using Photoshop CS5 & Canon Digital Photography software that came with the printer. He wants to be able to print ALL his pictures with about a .25" border around the pictures which will allow extra space to actually frame the picture without blocking any of the actual photograph. Since right now they don't have a printer plugin for CS5(that is stable) we saved the picture in Photoshop as 8X10(and other sizes too). Then reopened the resized photo in Canon software to use the printer plugin. The software either re-scales the photo too large, or loses part of the image as it is printed. Is there another software solution that will just take the image, where we can tell it to only have a .25" border all the way around and maintain the correct aspect ratio?

Secondly he really needs to calibrate his monitor to match the color output of the printer. I helped him find a product from Pantone that will create a color profile for his monitor, and then create a ICC profile to match his printer color output. It is $499.00. Are there other solutions that cost less? The printer plugin itself has so many different options in the ICC profile that it is totally confusing to know which one will actually reproduce the color of the photograph most accurately.

I know this is a complex subject, but he is limited in computer/post processing print knowledge (me too) and it seems easiest to just use one unique ICC profile and have the monitor use a custom profile. This way since he won't be using all different types of media he will be able just to buy the 24" roll, and 10" roll and do his pictures. His camera is a Canon D50 BTW shooting high res .jpg format.

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas.
