Can you recommend a printer to me which prints CDs, prints high quality prints for clients and ink doesn't cost a fortune... Basically, which printer is the best for photographers?
I use my local photo printing lab for prints. However I want to print 5-10 high quality prints at home for those clients who only want to have the digital pictures on DVDs. It takes forever to get around in Miami. Traffic is horrible!
I have done my research and I came to the conclusion that these Canon printers are the best: Canon Pixma PRO9500, Canon Pixma PRO9000.
Question: Do you have any experience with these printers?
Do you have any other printer to recommend? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

I like the epson R2400, but I dont' think they make it anymore.... http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/c...s&oid=53540920
Wait, they replaced the R2400 and R1800 with the R1900...... http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/j...sku=C11C698201.
I use the R2400 at my college to print huge, 11x16 prints. It takes 10 minutes a print at that size, but the quality is amazing!!

You'll need a big desktop.

I have the Epson R1800 and really love the job it does, but it takes 8 ink cartridges which cost $15 apiece and if one is out the photo won't print at all. Sorry, I'm no help at all!

I won't bash canon but I will give Epson a big thumbs up I have a a new Epson workforce 520, R1800 and 7600 and they all produce excellent pictures.
I guess it depends on the size of prints your gonna make.
Good Luck

Bought the big Canon printer, makes great prints... but I find myself using the little Selphy that I got free when I bought my wife a P&S more often than not. It makes great 4x6 pics & I never run out of ink... If I have paper, then I can print...

I've also started to consider a purchase for the same reason and happened to see epson has a $300 mail in rebate for the R1900 and R2800.
I'm leaning towards the r1900 as it brings the price down to $250 after rebate... until 12/4.
I sound like an epson rep.

Check out Epson HP Canon Printer Inkjet Photo Papers Ink Cartridges ATLEX.COM
They currently have a sale on the R1900 with a pretty good rebate.
There ink is lower-priced than most online vendors.

Also consider the Epson 3880. Great machine and excellent color and saturation. Will print up to 17x22.

I have the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 MarkII and it is an EXCELLANT printer. The prints that it produces are AMAZING!!! The colors are vivid, true to the original and prints are sharp. The ink usage is not bad either. I've had my Pro9000 for about 2 months and printed about 10 13x19's, 20 8-1/2x11's numerous 5x7's and 4x6's. Four of the eight ink tanks are still full, two tanks are 3/4 full, one 1/2 full and the other is 1/4 full. You can get the 8-pack of ink for about $88 on-line or individual tanks for about $12 - $14. You may be able to find the Pro9000 online for about $225. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
