Paper recommendation for printing photos for clients??? - 11-12-2010, 02:13 PM

I have just bought a new Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II.
What kind of paper do you recommend to use this printer with. Which paper does this printer work with well?
I just want to print a few amazing colorful wedding photos for clients when I ship the digital files so they receive something tangible...
(For large volumes of printing I still use my local printing lab.)

Thanks!

I would check the canon site for paper recommendations.

I know you have a canon, but also look epson papers. This is the type of paper we have to buy for my classes.

Keep in mind that "matte" for a place like Walgreens or CVS = Luster. Matte in our world means matte like the surface of printer paper, or with additional texture.

Canon ain't cheap, but good anything (usually) ain't cheap either. Personally, I like Epson Premium Lustre Photo Paper as an "everyday" kind of paper, for proofs (if I had to do paper proofs more often I would probably use a cheaper paper though). Matte wise, Moab's offerings have been good (I've been playing with sample packs) but I really like lustre papers at this point of my work. (Matte can be a bit tougher to color manage and sharpen for, especially some of the rag papers).

One place to also look is Red River Paper. Like the name implies, they are a Texas (Dallas) based company, which offers a number of papers that are said to compete with higher priced papers, but better priced. Check out some of their sample packs! (I am not affiliated with them).

Ink Press Paper is another decent paper that is half the price of Epson. It's not quite as good, and neither are their profiles when it comes to shadow detail, but for the most part it's a good alternative when cash saved is important. I'm burning through a box of their Luster right now.
