Wondering if anybody is in passport pictures business and can help me out.
My daughter, who is German, needs to apply for a new passport at the German embassy in Houston. She needs a couple of passport pictures with special requirements. See measurements and requirements
I do have the image file but I don't have the hard- and software to print and cut the pictures at exact size.
More than 90% of the passport applications get denied because people don't pay attention to the picture requirements. That's why I would like to do it right in the first place but I don't know any local photo lab that could do the job. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. Go to Walgreens and pay them like $10 bucks and you don't have to worry about anything. It's a lot easier.

I'd speak with someone at the Embassy and take their recommendation.

Hi André,
I recommend you call Walgreens or CVS and see if they can cut the photo to the specs given. I think they can accommodate.
I just came from there for visa photos.

Those requirements don't look any more challenging than US Passport requirements. I did mine a couple of months ago by taking the headshot photo, dumping into photoshop, setting the DPI to 300 and using the measure tool in combination with resizing to make sure all of the measurements lined up. I dumped a couple of the photos into a 4x6 frame with a 1px black border, printed the 4x6 out at walmart, cut along the lines, and bam, couple of 4x6 photos for myself. Obviously you aren't going to save a ton of money, but doing it yourself and saving over 95% of the minimal cost at a Walgreens can sometimes be satisfying. :)
Edit: I just noticed, my profile pic/avatar on the site is my passport photo.

I wanted to avoid to do it myself but it seems like I have to. Will cost me probably one hour of work and another hour of driving plus gas. I would have rather paid somebody if this would have been someones day job.

The software at the Walgreens kiosks has templates for other countries, including Germany. Let he photo person shoot your picture and pull it up in the kiosk, but choose "Germany" from the list. It will display the specific guides onscreen. Size to fit. A 4x6 print with the image 2-up will be printed. You may have to trim them out yourself because the stores are only equipped with a 2''x2'' (U.S. size) die cutter.

BTW, I couldn't get to the German link. Probably a Windows Exploder problem.
Good luck!

Thanks, Wayne. It's not done yet but first I'll try that online service. If that doesn't work I'll do it myself, order the prints with Smugmug and try to cut them properly.

OK. I got to see the samples. Leave it to the Germans to be uber precise. Like their cameras & lenses. Grinning.
