Recommendations for DFW or Online Print Store - 01-14-2011, 11:29 PM

I'm getting ready to order some enlargements of some of my work. I haven't had anything made up larger than what I can print on my Canon printer (8.5 x 11).

So I'm looking for a good on-line place or something local.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

Bob - might not be the best lab in town, but the prices are great - Costco. You can order on line and pick up at the store. I have done up to 20X30 with them and they are pretty good. Just be sure to download their printer profiles.

Bob, over the last month I have printed out (27) 8” x 10”s for $102.50 at the local Walgreens. I finally got tired of viewing them on the computer and decided to put the best ones in an album. I have been happy with the printing results and only had to reject a couple, for one reason or another. You don’t pay for them if you are not satisfied.

Well, I share my photos on smugmug.com which also provides printing if I so desire. I had good luck with their quality control.

For quick local prints I use Wolf Camera. If you in the 8x10 or 11x14 range for prints they are acceptable. If, however, you are looking for larger prints like 24x30 then their quality controls is not as good. Mostly, they choose the wrong paper and then I need to get a reprint. Just a waste of time.

Dalmatian Labs (Printmakers of Fine Art True B&W Photographs & Giclee Prints From Negatives Or Digital Files). I have not used them myself yet, but I have seen prints a neighbor has printed with them and they are exhibition quality.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier, but my local recommendation is BWC Labs in Dallas. They are at the corner of Maple Avenue and Medical City (formerly Motor Street), across the street from Elliott's Hardware.

Another vote for BWC they also have an online system ROES. You can upload and run the print order then either pick up the prints or have them mailed. These folks have been in business for many years and I've found them to be highly professional and knowledgeable.

Ive recently been turned onto costco for my large prints (11x14 and up) as they are cheap and good quality, plus (at least here) the lab techs know what the heck they are doing, and can tweak the system to do what you want.

If I dont use costco, I use Data Photo Imaging in California. Some things hes a bit pricy on, but for the amazing customer service Dave gives me, I wouldn't dream of stopping using him.

BWC's website is down. Hope that's not a sign of something else!
