I could really use some printer help

This is a discussion on I could really use some printer help within the Printroom forums, part of the Photography Information category; I'd go with this one, HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer | HP® Official Store over that one. There's simply ...

I'd go with this one, HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer | HP® Official Store over that one.

There's simply no need to buy the all in one.

As far as the ink yields, those numbers are deceptive. Black yields are based on a percentage of page coverage for 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper. The color yields are based on even less page coverage as they expect you to only use color ink occassionally for office charts and such.

You will see far less pages printed before it asks for an ink cartridge than what they are telling you, but this is because you are printing medium quality photographs at 11x17.

I've never had issues with deskjet or officejet products. This one would be worth trying out. Just don't expect it to print an 11x17 very fast.

HP Officejet 7000 Wide Format Printer | HP® Official Store

I think that one is the one I was looking at today

Yeah they do say that it is rated by using 8x10s. I'm gonna bring some files and paper tomorrow to see what it looks like.

I have a Deskjet 990 Cxi and a photosmart 1215 here. They both work great. The 990 Cxi has the attachment that lets it print both sides of the paper.

Seeing where HP has gone, I won't be quite as upset when I have to replace these in the future.

Then again, I've been considering getting one of the Phasers for my business needs.

Look this up on
Amazon Amazon
. It's sold by Adorama through them and the price is good.

Hmmm, read the reviews. It doesn't print borderless. <--- I'm incorrect on this. It will print borderless up to 11x17.

No idea on the high volume. I've run at least two cases of paper through the 990 Cxi in the time I've had it. It still prints flawlessly.

The yield (number of print) quoted above is for "documents" - not photos. so even at "medium quality" you will not get that many prints out of it. I have carried around an Epson R280 (only does up to 8.52x11) to several events(not outdoors though) for a couple of years an have not had any problems printing about 75-100 5x7's at a time - a full set of ink is about $80. Not sure how many prints that yields. I also have a Sony 150 dye sub print that does up to 5x7. Have used it to print 130 5x7's in about an hour and a half for pictures with Santa and it had no problems. A refurb one is about $600 and 5x7 media is a 55c per print. It is designed for rugged use and will print a 4x6 in about 20 seconds and a 5x7 in about 30...

Oh and yeah, the borderless. the images I am selling now have quarter inch borders and no one seems to care.

I'm still going to farm out my high quality prints, but having prints on the table, even med quality or lower sometimes is my real meat and potatoes.
