printing selective color images - 11-05-2011, 01:52 PM

I will be needing to print some oversize (20X30) prints for exhibition.
They will be Black and White with some selective coloring ( a single dress for instance ) . I'm wondering if there is something special needed to get the best b&w and color combined. I'll be going to a professional lab for these.

The best thing you can do is ask the lab that is printing your prints what profile and color modes to use.

And yes, you should have a calibrated monitor.

It goes to 11

Uncheck the calibrate color box. Mpix, millers, and whcc should print spot on. It wouldn't hurt to email customer service also with your order number.

I beg to differ, unless going to an offset press. WHCC and the other labs I checked require RGB files. Inkjet printers are also considered RGB devices-doing their conversions on the fly. Converting to cmyk will have an adverse effect on the color gambut

Get the specs from the lab of your choice and I would go with some smaller test prints before going large.
