Blow Up challenge is a test between digital and film photography. Digital cameras have improved in leaps and bounds over the last few years but does film still produce the best results?

The prints used are rather larger as is the printer.

interesting...yet they really don't get into the details that might make the most difference...did they scan in the image from the f5? How big was the digital file they used to make the print?

Gotta love the d700!

That was interesting.... Im glad they shot it with the same lens. I still think the better test would have been a still subject versus human but the difference was strong, so in this case I guess it does not matter. Now for the real question. Can I fit that printer in my office?

I think film will still die a slow and painfull death. It still has too many supporters.

Cool. Thanks for the post. Did she say she pulled her catsuit outa her closet for this shoot? Seriously, do women in Brittan wander around in catsuits? No wonder they think American women are all prude. lol.

Companies may cease production of film, but silver based photography will live on.

Am I the only one who sees the fatal flaws in this so called "test"?

I'm not a techie, but this test left a lot of questions unanswered.

But, next time I need a 170 square meter print made, I'll remember not to expect overnight delivery.

do you mean where they compare the digital image they scanned from the film to the original digital image from the digital camera ?
I think they are comparing the scanner technology to the camera technology, and film has nothing to do with it.

Amen Brother! We have a winner!

That's the biggest flaw in the "test". Another flaw that they admitted to was using ISO 400 film for the mega-enlargement. Nobody in their right mind would do that.
