Epson 3880 at PMA? - 01-29-2009, 01:33 PM

With the $200 rebates right now, I'm very motivated to pick up a 3800. It's a bit long in the tooth but still a great printer. I've searched high and low for substantiated rumors of the new version but it's still the same unfounded speculation. Does anyone know if Epson has a history of announcing new printers at the upcoming PMA? I've been holding out but I've really gotten the bug to start home brewing my prints. Thanks for any insight.

No, look for a 3900 in the summer.

Thanks Stovall,

I forgot about that site. I didn't bite the bullet and buy the 3800. I just know Murphy would bite me as we're too acquainted. I've made it this far so I might as well keep is business as usual. Thanks again.

I would be absolutely amazed if they were to release a 3800 successor with the Ultrachrome HDR inkset anytime soon. Even if they can figure out how to fit all those ink carts and heads into a printer of roughly the same size as the 3800, I think the chances of them doing so before they release a 4900 are incredibly low. Maybe it's not impossible, but it would be pretty stupid from a business standpoint.
