Printing at Costco - 02-19-2009, 02:10 PM

I just uploaded an image that i want to print and i left the color profile as ProPhotoRGB. Since it's not sRGB it looks muddy on their website. Will it print ok or do I need to change it to sRGB? I'm assuming it will print fine if they are downloading it but just want to make sure.

Dennis,

I do Costco for personal quick prints - but they do offer ICC profiles to calibrate on your own FYI.

My experience is that their printing is not as vibrant, but again - I'd rather have that than overly sharpened or magenta tones from other non-pro printers. I've had good experiences with Willowbrook and I-10 Bunker Hill locations. Couldn't you just upload dual files each with different profiles. Once you pick them up - you'll find which print better on their Fuji systems, for future reference?

I know the folks somewhat over at the Houston Bunker Hill location (my wife works there, which helps). So far, I've used Costco only for film development and printing (I've been using Walgreens for my digital prints, mostly because they have a store a few blocks from my home). If it were me, I'd take the images down to Costco on a jump drive or the memory card, and discuss this with them. They will probably have some advice as to which color profile works best with their equipment.

They only print the large sizes thru online ordering, no in-store pickup.
It would make sense to me that they are downloading the high res image I uploaded which means the prophotorgb profile would be the one being used.
I guess I'll have to call or stop by. I was just hoping someone else used them.
Or i just order thru WHCC like I normally do. This was just for personal stuff and figured it would be easier/cheaper.
That bunker hill location is the one we use since it's right near our house.
