Flaking, really ?! That sucks, I haven't noticed this on any of my prints, but now I'll have to look a little closer. Also, I'm only using the 190 gsm, maybe the 300 is too thick and rubbing up against the rollers or part of the printer as its being fed...just a theory.

Well, I'll soon be getting an HP PhotoSmart 8750 printer which will allow me to print large format (up to 13x19). Any recommendations?

I loves me some Moab paper!

I don't really have any recommendations aside from you buying some sample packs of paper and trying each of them out.

I downloaded this test image:
http://www.inkjetart.com/custom/4800test.zip

I then printed the test image on 8.5x11 samples of each paper I was testing. I then labeled them and placed the printed images in a sample book. Now I can compare color, contrast, and density of all the different papers when it comes time to order new stock.

I found the flaking to be a major problem. It seems to vary by box. I regularly use a tissue to wipe the surface, but even then I find large white specks appearing after handling a print. VERY irritating!

I love this paper - especially the 300 weight - 13" x19" . Double sided gives you an extra sheet - if you screw up, or want to print a variation.

I'm torn between the "bright" and "natural". I end up having both and decide which is best for each image. The natural is VERY warm.

I use their custom profile for the Epson 2200.

More flaking, huh. I just looked at 3 different prints 2 on entrada natural 300 and one on entrada bright 190 and no flaking that I can see. I don't think I'm doing anything different then any of you. I do let all my prints sit overnight to full dry and degas before I really handle them, but I do that for all papers.

Oh well.

legion paper - 11-09-2005, 08:14 PM

i have used legion paper (matte, & velvet) with no problems at all. i thought their prices were reasonable (legionpaper.com click on digital papers) and they have a wide variety of types and sizes to choose from. i want to try the arches infinity. but i just dont want to pay the money. For those of you who dont know in the art world arches paper is a reputable paper company and sell 100% cotton, archival, and acid free paper. i have experimented and printed on arches coldpress watercolor paper and had good results. so MY advice would be to EXPERIMENT and go the the art store and buy quality paper to create new ideas. not just what is sold as "traditional" paper prints. as long as it is acid free you should be alright. but if anything goes wrong im not responsible
