yeah, kinda of a rehash. i searched through previous threads and just wanted to kind of re-assemble it into this thread.

i'm in a time crunch and need to print some pics (8x10, 11x14) with a local printer so i can have them in less than 24 hours. this is mainly because adorama is off for easter week, and i forgot a couple pictures in my mpix order this morning.

i'm leaving out places where you have to have a membership (like costco, or do you have to have a membership for photos?).

i'm thinking about trying out wolf, but it looks like they don't really have any paper options like adorama?

these pictures are for use at a wedding, so i want them to print out pretty good!

I forget the name, but a small shop in Addisson, just north off Belt Line and west of the toll road did some good work for me a few years ago.

well, i used wolf and accidentally did matte finish....and it looks horrible! it's like water color on construction paper (ok, not -that- bad, but...). i'm sure matte has it's uses, but it's definately not for portraits! heh.

trying again with glossy...

doctahjones added 419 Minutes and 13 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

so they can only do up to 8x14 in the regular glossy "photo paper". anything larger is only available on matte, which looks horrid.

good thing someone told me when i picked up the first print and said "oh, i guess i'll have to reprint in glossy"...oh wait, they didn't. so, they get to eat that second print.

also a good thing the website disables 'glossy' as an option when you print larger than 8x10. oh wait, it doesn't.

If you still need a recommendation, Barron Photografix in Fort Worth is excellent. They can print in 24 hours as well. http://www.barronphotografix.com

I assume Barron charges a premium for 24 hour turnaround? Right now I use primarily Adorama but wouldn't mind a local shop to work with that still has a web-based interface to upload photos and select sizes.

Well, I have never printed big orders with them, but always get my prints in 24 hours for normal prices. It's worth a call to them. If you go onto their website and click where it says "professional photographers" you can see all the services they offer. They've just always been good to me and the quality of my prints have always been excellent.

No, I know the place, but I think it closed. They were very knowledgeable.
