Ebay CISS Ink Systems - 05-03-2009, 02:39 PM

Has anyone tried out one of these CISS ink systems from ebay. Either this one or something similar? Wanted to get some feedback on how good they work. I've been buying after market ink cartridges on Ebay with pretty good success. Wanted to know how these are and if it's worth switching to. Thanks.

My 380 still going strong after a year of abuse with one of these CISS systems without much trouble. I had a small problem when installing it. I blamed the instruction for it though

I only use these for proof & casual print however, wouldn't recommend it for paying customers.

i am running the Ciss on my epson R1900 and love it. You might want to do some research on the pros and cons of using oem ink vs dye inks and base your decision on that.

Hands down, Ciss will save you lots of money. OEM ink prints will last longer, meaning they wont fade on you, but if ciss prints fade, i'll just print another. I backup everything on dvd. I've been running ciss for about 9 months with no problems and no picture fade....yet. =)

I dont keep my prints in direct sunlight so i couldnt tell you if they are prone to fadding.

On the R1900, It's a bit difficult to install the ciss system, but once you layout the ciss ribbon correctly, it's maintenance free. I havent had to adjust or clean anything since day one. You'll still have to run your nozzle and alignment checks at regular intervals.

I got mine on ebay also and am very happy with it.

Awesome... I'm thinking of getting one. I don't print anything to sell to anyone since this is only a hobby of mine. I still have the R300 and still like it alot. So I was thinking of getting a CISS system for it.

One more question... what was difficult in setting it up initially?

the ciss system comes with a ribbon that's connected to your new ink cartridges. You have to make sure the ribbon doesnt interfere with the internal moving parts....like the print heads as they're zipping back and forth

The ciss should come with 1 plastic arm to help keep the ribbon suspended and out of the way.

Also, it depends on your printer but my R1900 has a cover to protect all 8 oem ink cartridges. The hardest part for me was removing that cover without breaking something. The cover stays off because now you have a ribbon connected to the ciss ink cartridges.
