Tips for Local Art Show Display - 05-15-2009, 06:17 PM

I get to have my artwork featured at a local art festival - this is the first time to do anything like this so any tips and suggestions would be a huge help! I am still finding out if I need a booth setup, but my main questions:

- what variety of prints should I produce to take with me? Prints, matted prints, canvas?

-what sizes?

-Good quality, but inexpensive place to print the matted prints?

-Any suggestions on where to purchase all of this? I have to print lots of pics so any good deals would be great!!!

Thanks so much!!

Well Murph no takers on this , I been watching because I also have a first show coming up, well its a long way off but its a local Art center, booked two years in advance. So I have time. I have talked with others and my feeling is some of all sizes or more important all price ranges. several folks said they make expense money on greeting cards and profit on larger images. my show has to be framed, ready to hang. I'm planning a calendar and maybe a book of local images. I bought a 4880 printer and now my plan is to start picking up a frame each payday but the killer is UV glass... wow the most expensive part of the deal. anyways good luck and I hope you sell a bunch.

This is an old post but I am curious on your thoughts...I am trying to get into a local gallery here that hosts local artists! Ive been in and I think my images are same quality or close to the ones that are there considering my little experience

A gallery show like Moody's and an art fair like Murph's would be two different answers. Usually at an art fair, people display a handful of big art to draw customers over to your booth. Then you have a ton of 8x10's and 11x14's to look through, and that's where most of your sales come from. A gallery show is usually just your big, limited edition shots hung up.
