Type: Magazine:

Practical Photography is probably my favorite photography magazine on the market. Downside it is a U.K. based publication which means it's a bit more expensive to get here in the U.S. but I feel that it's worth it. There are several really good U.K. based magazines available but this one is my absolute favorite.

There are only a handful of photography magazines that I buy on a monthly basis. When I first started in photography I used to buy any and all photography related magazines I could lay my hands on. Over time I've weened myself down to only a few that I feel are very well done.

This is a definite favorite of mine and I highly recommend it. Only one of two photography related magazines that I NEVER miss an issue of. Even though the subscription price is as much (if not more) than a Canon 50 f1.8 II lens I still highly recommend it.

Where To Buy:

Subscribe to this magazine in the TPF Amazon Store located here:

Abel, feel free to delete this if you don't want to cross-promote, but it's good information.

Right now Practical Photography has a subscription offering for two years for $116 dollars through their site (71 BP). That works out to $4.45 per issue. Link below:

"1 Year (13 issues) By Credit/Debit Card + Get 1 Year FREE to Rest of World"

I knew it was for a year silly... What about the ad to content ratio? I know most of the mags I have subscribed to in the past were 2 or 3 times more ads than content.

Guess I will have to go to B&N and check it out.

When I lived in Kenya, I was exposed to a lot of photography magazines from the UK that simply amazed me. I like that many UK photography magazines are geared towards the inexperienced photographer and those with experience looking for fresh or perhaps new cutting edge ideas to stay ahead of your game.

The subscription is high due to the shipping costs from the UK to the USA but you get a super sized magazine in full color. (British mags are larger) Lots of tips and tricks for both the beginner and experienced. Plus you get great British humor in the mix.

IMO this is a Good feature and well worth it.

A very good magazine, to which I've subscribed since 2002. I think the removal men almost broke their backs when I brought all my issues over here from the UK a couple of years ago.
