i1photo pro, and camera calibration or profile - 04-29-2011, 03:20 AM

I am going to go with the i1photo pro UV Cut, it profiles the monitor and and printer, and camera. I dont think you really need to calibrate your camera though. Has anyone here calibrated there camera?

Hi - I'm new but I thought I'd say hello by confusing things further )

I recently bought a new NEC 24" multisync because it supports a wider gamut than my old LCD did. It came with an EyeOne which says it is an xwrite MDSV sensor custom calibrated for wide gamut NEC displays.

Does anyone know which model this "really" is?

Also, mine came with the white, partially translucent cover but there was no mention of using that to measure ambient light. In fact, my light is so different day/night, that even with a monitor shade, I ended up creating two profiles for the different times of day.

Hey everyone. I only print for my own viewing pleasure. But, I would like my system to print what I see on the monitor. So, would I not also have to calibrate the printer, as well?

By the way, my office ambient light is growing dark from an approaching cloud that looks like rain. For those reading this outside Texas you may not realize what a welcome sight that cloud is at the moment - I just hope it drops something!

Printing what you see - 09-17-2011, 01:07 PM

I have created two profiles since the light during the day and the light in the evening are very different.

But, in addition, using an Epson Stylus 2400, I have always found it necessary to increase the brightness by about 35 to match what I see on the screen. You shouldn't have to increase anything except the brightness. I've been told by a few photographers that this is common practice.

In a way, I can see it - after all, our prints are not backlighted.

Do other people use this "solution"?

abel - i have other huge prints steve shot of me. the guy does incredible work. he just kind of does it at his pace though as he has an 8-5 job. we must have had 6-8 hidden slaved strobes set up all over a cave for one series. all shot with a Nik V on slide film. i wish he shot more. it is all work and no play though to get good cave diving shots.

Scott:

What did you finally do to get it working? I just got mine and loaded it on the system (Windows 7). It couldn't find the hardware and I did the upgrade. Now I am getting an error message that I sent to their support center.
