Radio triggered TTL for Nikon and Canon flashes. Should be pretty cool!

There's got to be a catch somewhere - I mean, radio and TTL, that's like mixing oil and water! Or cats and dogs living together peacefully... something like that...

Of course, I want one. Or six.

Not really.
We have converters that modulate a RF signal with music, and call it AM/FM radio, or send digital data, too (cell phones), so why not a remote for a flash and control it's firing for TTL? Sounds expensive already!

PS: Welcome back from Jack-son.

Updated info:

Price $175 per unit
No Transceiver available, only separate receiver and separate transmitter.
Will use a AAA battery for power.
Works with high speed Sync! Yippee!

I'll still keep the PWs for the studio, but I'll be buying a set of these also .. can't wait.

Looks especially good for remote fill on sunny days.

I'm at a loss on how the high speed sync works. Could it mean using 2 SB800s in the equivalent of FP mode? That might solve a lot of night sports issues (1 alone is underpowered for football at ISO 800).

I know the person that has invented this for years now. I have been talking with him for quite some time on this in depth and well lets just say it is VERY PROMISING.

Kevin will be sending TriCoast a working selection soon which I will gladly give a full report when I we do receive it.

As stated above this will completely knock out a reason to use PW's in outdoor shooting, you get all the advantages of the ETTL or ITTL system, which is far greater than what you can get with PW's, but you get the one thing that PW's allow you to do better, radio waves.

Having known Kevin for quite sometime I can only say I trust his word and his very indepth emails from the size of the product, the price of the product and most importantly how well the product works. This one product will change the way the majority of photographers capture images outside, truly and amazing to think about!

Im very excited to say the least!

Like me, if it works. I'd take the loss on selling my new PWs if it's all it's cracked up to be.

Mike, thanks for the info. I too am excited about this product. It sounds like the only thing it might be missing is group ratios using ETTL. If you find that it does indeed have that most useful capability then I'll be buying some for sure!
