How about this... Full Radio slave unit with actual 2000-ft. range.

For $25.

Believe it.

This is the latest announcement from the RadioPopper company. While they're pretty sure they are going to make a lot of money with the Radio Slave ETTL models, they're making a no-profit device for the masses.

This could get intresting...

Sounds good. But I will be more interested in P1 since it supports E-TTL.

I spoke to Kevin at length about all of his new devices and it sounds VERY promising!

For somebody like me... who loves to have a flash strobe setup at high school basketball... this is just about perfect.

Granted.. we have a great set of PWs at the newspaper... but in a town this size, we're generally the only people with strobes at any given event. No real need for the multiple channels the PW offer.

This is going on my christmas list for sure... although none of them sound like a bad idea and I think it's about time that PWs gave up some of their market share

Check that... according to their website, the Popper Jr. will have 2 channels. This thing looks like it's going to be sweet.

Bad part... probably not going to be announced for sale until May-June.

Even if you own PW's, @ $25 a copy a photog would be crazy to pass these up when they come out. I like the way they think

Will the receivers only work with IR flashes or can you use them with a mix of something like a 580EX and Studio lights? Anyone know?

Mike

I would doubt it... simply because the FCC regulates the radio frequencies and I don't think the companies are allowed to use the same one.

I'll wait on ordering any until they actually ship, and until reports come in on real-world range and reliability. It does sound like a good idea - I'm just a die-hard skeptic.

Ooh. I need a couple more PW receivers, but I think I'll just wait until these come out and switch over.
