Hello From Iraq - 07-15-2009, 11:55 AM

Hey guy and girls, I thought I would stop by and say hi. I am doing alright over here but can tell you I miss shooting almost as much as my family. Kari is sending some of my gear over as it would be just wrong for this photographer not to photographicly (is that a word) document my time here. I just got my laptop setup here and currently use the wifi down at the USO.

Here are a few from my Iphone (no i dont get a signal over here)

A Clear day

A not so clear day, this is how I spent my 4th of July

hey John how's it going? the non worldly part is so true you step out of your room on a bad day like that and it reminds me of "Total recall" on mars.

Doing good here. Hot as hell in SA. I'm sure it's just as bad in Iraq. We don't have those sand storms though. That is really a erie look. Stay safe man, when you get home shot me a PM and we'll get together and do some shooting somewhere!

That kind of sand could hurt some DSLR's as well as laptop keyboards. Imagine changing lenses. But, I suppose no real photog takes any photos in that.

I hear that the moon is humongous out there. You know how some people take photos of an approaching sand storm, hope you get one of those. I suppose that you are not allowed to walk around with a DSLR much less go outside the compound for local shots.

I don't know what your unit is doing out there routinely, but stay alert, stay alive.

I am scheduled to be in Speicher (north of Tikrit) next February. Am certainly not looking forward to that 140 degree heat.

May the Lord raise His hedge of protection around you.

ST77,

Stay safe and watch your 6. May your trip be speedy and get back safe. I work at Ft Sam, so once you're back, if you want to shoot some photos just let me know.

Hey Lupe,

What are you going to the desert for?
