SLR's in Cowboys Training Camp?

This is a discussion on SLR's in Cowboys Training Camp? within the San Antonio forums, part of the Texas category; Anybody know if they'll allow them in? I didn't have my cam in '07 so I didn't pay attention....

I took in a 20D with a 18-55mm in a crappy, beat-up old camera bag in 2007. Security gave it the once over and let me through. The didn't see the 70-200 2.8 Sigma underneath :) But, sure would hate to have to walk back to the car in this heat.

Awe, darn it. Come on now, do they honestly think that I would try to make money off a few lousy pictures? They're not even in uniform.
H-m-m. I wonder if my wife still has that crappy bag in the closet?

Damon, I took my 20d and 70-200 f4 into the dome when training camp was here in 07 and didnt get stopped at all. Unless things have changed here, I see no reason why you couldnt take it in. Like Lupe said, do they really think we are going to sell these pictures. And it isnt like your on the field. You will probably be in the bottom but possibly half way up.
The last time I just crawled my way towards the rails as time went on during the practice.
If you hear anything else, let us know. I would like to go next week with my camera again and my 70-200.

I would not rely on answers from this forum. I would call the admin office of the Cowboy's and get a letter sent to you, or a reference to their website stating yes or no and any restrictions.

I doubt they would accept a printed answer from this forum as permission.

Or I could just take my camera with me one day. If they let me in they let me in. If they don't, they don't.

I went to one of the Cowboys practice and no one checked my camera bag nor stopped me from using my telephoto lens. Even from the stands, a 200mm will work great. It would be nice to be able to get on the field, I think you can buy a pass for the field but I didn't inquire about it.

Yes you can bring in big cameras, but you cannot buy a pass. Only the working media can be on the feild with a camera. Although if you can get a VIP, then you can bring one down there but you are restricted as where you can go.

Here are some shots from the Tuesday press conference and Kickoff Party. The 3 rd one was on the front page of La Prensa newspaper.
