Best place to print???

Where's the best place in town for printing photos?

Lupe Talamantez 08-05-2009 07:21 PM

OK. I will go first. U-m-m-m, I don't know. 8^)

What is it that you want to get printed?

For those photos that I hang in my house, HEB's matte finish is OK. I don't need anything expensive especially if I replace them when I feel like it. If I needed bigger sizes than HEB's 8X10, Ritz would be a candidate. I'm not ready to sell photos for income. There are some small photo labs in town, but their prices could not be.

Good luck.

I use Photo Express on San Pedro (www.digitalprolab.com). nice folks, good professional quality and pretty darn quick sa well!

For the price, Costco does a nice job. I've had quite a few 5x7 and 8x10 done there.

You can even download a printer profile for the specific location you want to use. This way you can avoid them doing any auto correction.

Mike - if you are printing for yourself, then Sams or Costco are kinda OK. But if you are selling the print to a client - do not give them those inferior products - it will cheapen your image. If the prints are for clients - use a reputiable lab. If not a local lab - go online to WHCC, MPIXpro, etc.

I use my smugmug - love them. Quick turn around and I just can't say enough about smugmug. Then again you have to have an account with them. They do fantastic work.

I agree what others are saying in that if I was printing for myself then SamsClub does a decent job. However I have been using Baldwin Pro Lab for some time on Joesphine street and they do a good job. I normally take any photos of wedding, etc that I charge to Baldwin for printing.
Hope this helps you out.

I'll second Digital Photo Express on San Pedro. Good work and prices in my opinion. Although the online houses do great work, I prefer to help to the local shops plus I can get direct results by seeing someone face-to-face should I have problems than through e-mail or telephone. My Two cents.

I agree with Digital Photo Express on San Pedro. I just had my HDR of Old BAMC printed on 30"x20" metallic Kodak Pro paper and it looked awsome. So far all prints from DPE have been outstanding.

KobraCarry. Does this answer your question?

Thanks for all the info. I'll give Photo Express a check.
