I received this at work today. Lackland is going to line the streets from the terminal where Lance Corporal Babine will arrive out to the highway.
I'm not throwing this up as a photo-op or as a political statement ... but knowing there are many vets on this forum, as a way for you to have a chance to come out and show your respect for one of our fallen heros.
This is all the information I have. I hope that some of you can make it out.
Quote:
On Friday, Lance Corporal Babine will arrive at Lackland AFB from Dover
AFB. Lance Corporal Babine made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our
country in support of OEF. His mother is a civilian employee assigned to
Security Hill (on Lackland).
Now, its time for us to honor this hero by paying our deepest respect. Some
of the Chiefs have announced they wil stand tall in formation. However, we
need to rally all our CEOs (Civilian, Officers, & Enlisted) to do the same
while rendering solemn honors to this true American hero. At a bare
minimum, this is the very least we can do to show our unwavering support to
this family.
The goal is to line both sides of the road (over a mile long) from the
passenger terminal to stop light (before Highway 90). By during so, we will send a powerful message that we truly care.
As of now, his ETA is 1255 local. However, I am prepared to stand 'all night' to honor this hero if the time changes. Therefore, I request you prepare to do the same.
Procedures:
There will be a police escort followed by a hearse and cars carrying family
members. Everyone should salute as the hearse approaches and hold the
salute until all vehicles in the procession pass. Thank you all for joining
us in this final salute.
