Seeking wedding tag-along/assistant opportunity

Hey ya'll,
I am trying to get a start in wedding photography to augment my wife's event planning business, and would like to offer my services as assistant/2nd shooter for anyone shooting a wedding in Texas over the next few weeks. I live in San Antonio but would be willing to travel to other cities.
I've never done weddings before but I have taken some photo classes when I was in college, and I'm great at following directions. I've got most of my own equipment and shoot with a Nikon D90, all I'm lacking is a little bit of experience. Since I am primarily looking to learn for now, I'm willing to work for free. All I want is someone who will put up with a couple of stupid questions and not have any issue with me posting any photos I take to my portfolio.

First, welcome to the board! TPF is a great place to learn, share knowledge and make new friends with a passion for photography. A friendly suggestion is to post your question in the wedding discussion forum. This will provide you with a tool to disseminate your request to other parts of the state and broaden your opportunities to participate in a wedding event. The San Antonio TPF group has a few wedding photographers that may jump in and give you some great advice and possible opportunities to tag along during a wedding. Please, before you ask to be a second shooter search the forum for a definition of second shooter and tag along. You will see that requests to be a second will generate some questions and some great advice from great photographers.
Again, welcome to the board and watch this section for future TPF meetings in the San Antonio area. If you participate, you will enjoy the laughter and fun.

Thanks. I apologize for my poor understanding of the terminology used here. To clarify, I'm not looking for a "2nd shooter" job but just to tag along, help with any setup/carrying stuff, watch, learn, and if I happen to take any usable shots that will be an added bonus to my being there. I'll go ahead and repost this in the wedding discussion forum as you've suggested.

I also am an avid photog around the northeast side of SA. Have lots of gear if needed to assist someone who is doing location, commerical, or other for-hire photography. I am negotiable when it comes to pay.... looking for more experience and a teammate. itl.consulting.tx@gmail.com
