Nice to see the site still here.

Still shooting, also taking some bonafide classes, although I do have the 'big fish small pond' feel going.

In any case, an offering of a shot I did months ago, when it was cold outside :)

Great shot! I really like the reflection of the Tower Life Building in the river.

That's a nice shot! If you are a big fish in a small pond, what school are you at in SA?

Thanks. the long exposure is what really made that reflection pop out IMHO. Didnt have to shop too much of it after I snapped it.

I think I'll reshoot that now that I have a little more night photography under my belt :)

Thank you. I'm in a class down at SAC. I think I'm going to finally persue a degree in photography.

I do feel a little silly in Photo I. And it's not really so much a big fish/small pond deal as much as I've just got a couple of decades worth of experince that most of the people in there don't. I have met a few that have either a very natural talent for it, and are picking it up quickly, as well as a few others that have some decent experience. One person in my class is a natural at it. She's produced some portrait work that's made my mouth water. I realized I might have to step up my work to keep in the game :)

Being so far removed from the academic side of photography has given me both disadvantages and advantages. I've sort of learned alot over the years and instinctively make great shots, but alot of the time I don't always know why until I dissect the photo later. Now I'm forced to really compose my shots like I was originally taught. It's really helping me get back to the basics of photo theory.

I've been enjoying it

K

Good for you! I think it's great - would love to do the same. When you said small pond, I was just wondering if you were at my beloved SA alma mater, Trinity. That was where I got my first exposure to photography - spent hours and hours developing and printing b/w. But, no photography degrees from there - and who could afford it now anyway?
