A couple of weeks ago, my job sent me down to Corpus Christi to help with a BRAC duty. After work, and like anyone else on TPF would do on such an opportunity, I drove around looking for a place to eat as well as places and things to shoot.
The marina area of CC is appealing as for sunrise shots or late afternoon shots of all the boats. But when a Texan wants a photo of a sunset horizon without driving an additional 1000 miles or so West, he is (almost) out of luck.
Giving up the sunset shot due to stormy-looking skies, I went looking for a place to eat along SPID or Texas 358. I came across Doc's Seafood and Steaks. Doc's has an open air balcony dining area. It's nothing fancy but the food is gooood. Looking into the distance was a sight to behold. The cloudy sky was beautiful and the setting sun cast one of those long shimmering reflections in the water fit for tourism poster.
Before all that I walked around under the JFK Bridge and found a small business with a pier, Clem's Bait. The man let me walk around taking pictures of a boat and some of the birds. Man, I was one happy photog before the rains came down.
I won't be out there for a while, and if I do, winter will have changed all the settings.
