Lost Maples - 11-12-2009, 02:10 PM

Yesterday morning I traveled out to Lost Maples, let's just say very early. I began my hike at 3:00 AM and it turned out to be the greatest time for me! Upon my return, the parking lot was completely filled with 30 people in line to pay at the park HQ. I guess it was because of Veteran's Day. Not sure.

I did my usual astrophotography and then headed out on the trails searching for the best colors in time for sunrise. Here is the fruit of my labors. Still crunching 1's and 0's. Get out there if you can. The East trail is the best right now.

No need to comment, just enjoy!

Numbers 4 and 6 are pictures that would take a thousand words to express. The one with the moon above the tree tops is doggone good. Nice series. Maybe it's time to head out to Lost Maples this weekend.

Thank you very much for the comments Lupe! Yes by all means get out there! I found other areas that were better in my opinion but unfortunately, it was on private property.

Get there early before the crowd arrives! I arrived UBER early (3 AM) but I am an astrophoto guy too and wanted to get some of that done too.

The people that I did run into on this hike all had cameras, so it's a popular place.

I found the most color to be on the East Trail, the far east limb of it. Nothing on top of the ridge unless you wanted to look down.
