Murph,

Did you use any of the D-Lighting settings for any of these shots?

I typically leave my ADL on Auto and if I really want to use that feature I'll use Nikon's software to convert from RAW. All other non-Nikon software is going to completely ignore the ADL flag and tone curve so if you're using Adobe or Capture One or Bibble or DxO or whatever... it's useless... but it doesn't hurt to have it turned on in the camera.

Who's the Karen (whatzerlastname) look-alike? Was she helping carrying your equipment for you?
Anyway, the grayscale pic of the path between the rails is like poetry.
Nice job on that one, Murph.

Murph,

Glad you got everything back, thanks for sharing. And you're going to back up religiously from now on, right?

One thing to watch out for, having ADL turned on in the camera affects the metering system if you use matrix metering. With ADL on the meter will choose to underexpose in some situations, since it's going to boost the shadows. That's really all ADL does, bias the metering system to protect the highlights and then uses a tone curve that lifts the mid-tones and shadows up. Depending on how you determine exposure this may not effect you, but it's something to be aware of.

Religiously. Although I was backing up on the two 1 tb drives in the computer, it is just Windows 7 did strange things to the drives. Now I have external storage, and am burning archival gold DVDs as extra backup. Thanks on the ADL information, I was bracketing on the other shots though.

Thanks. I liked it better in B&W than in color. Karen was showing off her new fancy camera holder gizmo.

I am thinking that Karen's rig could also work with matching MP-5 smgs.....
