DSLRs at Spurs Games? - 12-23-2009, 10:58 AM

Hi all,

I have some Spurs tickets for a game in January and was wondering if I could bring in my 5D and 85 f/1.8. I know I wouldn't be able to get my 70-200 in but was hoping the smaller lens might be alright.

Has anyone brought a DSLR to a game recently?

Thanks.

Jim

They (at&t Center) are usually pretty picky about anything with detachable lenses. You could try, but be prepared to walk back to the vehicle.

My 'edit photos' says no; but because there is no "sometimes" option.

I haven't been to a game this year but I was thinking I might have seen some DSLRs with kit lenses in the stadium before so I was hoping the 85mm might make the cut since it's similar in size. Might have been wishful thinking. :)

Best way to find out is to call the Areana and find out it's rules about cameras.

I went to Nickelback's concert in Denver not long ago. I did some research and one phone call to find that any camera that features a changeable lenses are not allowed.

Yet, some people were lucky enough to sneak their Rebels and D40's/D50's with kit lenses through.

Their official policy is that cameras with detachable lenses aren't allowed but I thought I had seen some DSLRs in the arena before with smaller lenses so I was hoping it might be something that they don't strictly enforce. Hopefully someone else will chime in who has been to a game recently to say whether or not they've been able to take theirs in.

I went to a Silver Star game and was hassled at the door about my Nikon DSLR even though I had a Media Pass.
