I drove to Houston this weekend and saw the beginnings of blooms along I-10. Another web site sated they are starting to bloom out on Hwy 151 between 410 and 1604. I'm looking forward to a good year. I just hope the cold weather this weekend doesn't delay their blooming.

Bluebonnets late this year? - 03-18-2010, 05:27 PM

Went to checkout my favorite area spots on the backroads around Bellville on Sunday. I think this is going to be a very late year. There is not even a single plant showing above ground yet probably due to the cold weather. A friend said that it has to be consistently above 60 for about two weeks before they will start up. Attached photos taken on March 29th last year when things were in full swing.

The Texas Department of Transportation has a searchable wildflower Web site and its wildflower hotline, (800) 452-9292, is starting to provide reports.

Beautiful, Murph! The colors are so rich and vibrant this year. Thanks for sharing!

I'm hoping to get some this weekend. I'm taking a trip to Brazos SP and Brazoria NWR. Sure hope I see some along the way.

Bluebonnets - 03-29-2010, 12:00 AM

Just to let you know there is a very nice patch on IH37 going south just outside of 1604. It is to your left as your heading south, you cant miss it, you will be hit with a sea of blue to your right. I shot a few pics there this past weekend. Hopefully the Hill Country will have some nice bluebonnet vistas this coming week or two.

There's a nice patch off Hildebrand on the access ramp to 281 North. It sits on the hillside, which makes clean shots even easier -- no distracting backgrounds, just a frame of thick bluebonnets.

Lots of Pinks & Blues, plenty on the access road of I-37 South & 1604 exit.

Tried to get pics but battery in camera died! :( Will try again later on in the week.

I also live near 151 & 1604 and there are lots of blue bonnets there as well. :)
