For most glass, the sweet spot is between f/8 and f/16. At f/22 and beyond most lenses soften. I don't recall the technical name for it at the moment.
To get creamy water you don't usually need shutter speed slower than 1/8th second, although many folks strive for much longer.
Next time you have a chance, try shooting at f/16, iso 100 and whatever shutter speed is required. If you have the patience, start at f/8, then f/11, f/13, etc., but don't bother to push beyond f/22. Compare your results carefully. |
