An old Chevy and some flashlights - 12-10-2010, 11:36 PM

Just thought I would show a piece of my latest work. Shot this last Sunday in Floresville for the owner of this 1936 Chevy pickup as a Christmas gift from his son and daughter-in-law. It took a few hours, some different sized flashlights, and a whole lot of patience. Enjoy.

FWIW, here it is an after and before shot:

Did you do this like a 'painting'... where you set a long exposure and use the flashlights as 'brushes'?

Thanks Guys! TO answer your question Christopher, It is a collection of 262 images. Most at 15 sec at 200 iso F5.6. Small parts of the truck were each illuminated with a set of flashlights, ranging from 2 million candlepower to small leds with gels to match the color. All were brought into Photoshop in individuals layers from there.

I shot this truck again last night while in a garage with character. I'll try and get it all compiled by the end of this week and post my results. It's great fun if you have the time and patience.

Thanks John!

LOL HDR? Not at all in my opinion. I am of the type that thinks HDR although interesting is causing people to just do that right now, and its flooding the field of photos. To each their own though! With each shot I take doing this, I can control exactly what I want to expose and shadow. Heck some of the layers I just discard. Still after 262 images it really bogs down a computer. Saving alone takes about 8 minutes.

Thanks for all the kind comments. If anyone would like to tag along on future shoots, you more than welcome.
