looking for studio space..... - 04-25-2011, 07:20 PM

Hey, I'm looking for someone that is interested in letting me borrow or rent some studio space down in San Antonio. I have in-laws in SA and I seem to find myself down there quite a bit, would love to have an excuse to get out of the house and get some studio time in while I am down there. I have all my own equipment, just need the space, thanks!!

There are lots of buildings for rent. But probably not set up for what you want.

You might try here. I was part of a video shoot there a couple of months ago. At the time he was renting his space to a videographer and crew from L.A. They used a Canon 7D to shoot a 14 minute finished piece with astounding results.

I'm not sure whether he rents his studio out on regular basis and it probably will not be cheap if he does.

not quite sure what I was expecting, but $500 for a day seems kinda high to me...

If anyone was following this thread, I am renting a suite at The St. Anthony Hotel for less than half of what I was quoted from Mr. Maxham for his studio.

Sadly, for all the large vacant buildings crowding downtown SA and other surrounding areas, it's surprisingly hard to find a decent size room for rent or lease for a reasonable amount of money. Some of these people think these decrepit old $#!++y buildings are made of gold, and so they sit.. vacant and rotting.. instead of leasing them out to artists and photographers for cheap.

Oh but hey! they're building new mixed-use condos/offices/studios at the Lone Star Brewery, near Pearl Brewery, and IN Pearl Brewery! All for the low price of $1200 a month! (I don't know the price for sure, but I'm sure they won't be cheap).

I am looking for a studio to rent as well, but seeing as how I only do photography as a hobby nowadays, anything more than $100 a month is just not justifiable.

My 'edit photos' says no; but because there is no "sometimes" option.

Tim Summa is a San Antonio photographer with an eclectic studio on Mission Street just south of downtown. Very nice guy and very reasonable on studio rental. He hosted a meet-up group meeting on lighting a few weeks ago. I don't have his phone number, but might be able to get it if you are interested.
