If all goes well, the wife and I will be wandering around the grounds on Saturday noon time. Man, I hope it don't rain.

Alliance show in Ft. Worth on the same weekend. Looks like the Randolph show will have a better showing of aircraft than we will have! :-(

Correction...Alliance is on the 22nd and 23rd!

Thank you for the reminder. I really liked how the Randolph show had the whole fence line open to the public last year. Made for some really good photo ops.

Hi Jennifer. I recall you and somebody else (can't remember his name right now) here in SA had posted some fantastic shots of fly-bys from the last event. The weather and lighting should be fine for that weekend.
For some aircraft, you are allowed to sit in the cockpit for pictures of yourself in them. I have one of myself in a T-38 from way back years. I like airplanes.

Unfortunately it looks like the F-22 is not going to be there based on the website.

I was lucky enough to nab some press passes for it. I always get there at 6 AM to get the sunrise stuff with no people around! Makes for a very long day but that's what you have to do to get the good shots.

The only downside to the Randolph and Kelly Airshows is that the sun is right in your face during the aerial portions. So some relocation is in order. I liked it best at Randolph when the flybys took place over the golf course. Less blaring down at you.

Over the years, I've shot airshows at most of the venues in Texas. Seems like sun in the face is a common theme! LOL

I agree that the old days at Randolph were pretty nice. In the early 80's I saw the Harrier fly for the first time out at Randolph. It came to a hover over a small tree on the golf course. Laid that poor tree right down on the ground!

Yeah the old Randolph shows were great. My best memories are flybys of the U-2 and the British Vulcan Bomber. Amazing.

Any decent locations around the base area to shoot the Friday practice, or incoming aircraft?
Thanks

Nice!

I'll be out there tomorrow as well.

Actually, I'm hoping to find a spot to check out the practice this afternoon. I see a couple of likely spots on the map.

I'm heading down in the wee hours of the morning! I want to see what old war birds show up for this show. I see the locals 'Fifi' and 'Ole 927' are there. Looking forward to seeing 'Glacer Girl' and the Galveston B-17.

I got out there at 6 am. Great morning shots before anyone was there, then I was very fortunate to ride Fat Albert during the show today! Processing lots of pics, and the video I shot through my iphone. I'll get it posted as soon as I can. Geez, very tired! Anyone else have a report?

Dreaded fall funk has been passing around the family this week. Looks like this one will be missed this weekend. Cannot wait to see what amazing images y'all capture from this event.
