34th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival (2008) TPF GTG - 10-02-2008, 09:24 PM

The 34th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival, the nation’s largest, most acclaimed Renaissance theme park where the sights, sounds, tastes and beauty of the 16th Century come alive for 8 magically themed weekends. Saturdays, Sundays and Thanksgiving Friday, October 11th through November 30th, 2008. Located on FM 1774, between Magnolia and Plantersville, Texas 50 miles Northwest of Houston. Please visit their website for more information: http://www.texrenfest.com/

I finally got a response from a Texas Renaissance Festival POC. They had to deal with Hurricane Ike, so I understand not getting back to me sooner. Below is the response I got about media passes for photographers. Apparently they have special parking which is cool.

Hi Allen –

Thanks for touching base with us. If you let me know what weekend(s) you are planning on coming out I would be more than happy to send out a VIP/Media Parking Pass for you and make sure your name is on the list in the Media Center. Just confirm dates and a mailing address and I will make sure you are taken care of.

If you have any questions or need anything, just let me know.

Cheers,

Sarah L. Tipton

Now I wanted to do a TPF Monthly GTG one weekend. The schedule does not appeared to be pushed back due to Hurricane Ike. Each weekend there is a theme and is as follows:

Oct 11-12 is Oktoberfest
Oct 18-19 is 1001 Dreams
Oct 25-26 is All Hallows Eve
Nov 1-2 is Pirate Adventure
Nov 8-9 is Roman Bacchanal
Nov 15-16 is Highland Fling
Nov 22-23 is Barbarian Invasion
Nov 29-30 is Celtic Christmas

A poll has been added to vote on which weekend is good for you. The one with the most votes by Thursday Oct. 9th will be the TPF GTG. Most likely the GT will be on a Saturday.

The 18th-19th I am on call, but free otherwise, so I voted for All Hallows Eve.

I voted for Celtic Christmas but the barbarian Invasion looks good as well.

I don't know the rules on releases and this type of event. I think editorial use only. I can ask.

Best days to go are
All Hallows Eve
Barbarian invasion
Pirate adventure

If I were going to go I would choose All Hallows Eve especially if you are staying on site.

Looks like Oct 25-26 / All Hallows Eve won. I chose Oct 25th for our TPF GTG. A thread has been satrted for the GTG:

http://www.texasphotoforum.com/forum...159#post775159

I will be creating another TPF GTG for Nov and it looks like Nov 29-30 / Celtic Christmas will probably be it.

There can be, I have been so swamped I haven't been able to much of anything. If you want you can model my thread and start one.

I will be going on Celtic Christmas weekend, and I look forward to meeting up with the group once more.
