Anyone want to help out some military folks? (Dec 14th)

I got a call today looking for an photographer to cover a military luncheon for deploying soldiers and their families on December 14th (noon - 4pm).

Normally I would take this on as an OpLove session (which is how she found my name), but I am having surgery on the 10th and won't be able to take this on.

It will be 10-15 families and the coverage would be candids of the lunch and some of each family.

This wouldn't be a paid session since she contacted me through OpLove, and so it would need to be worked liked one. This means you will need to mail off some 4x6 prints to the deployed soldier, and then you can offer the prints to the familes free or at a discounted cost - your choice.

Since this is several families it would probably be good to have at least 2-3 photographers there.

If anyone wantss to take this on, or set it up as a group shoot for a GREAT cause... Please let me know ASAP so i can get back tot he lady setting it up.

Mel, hope you are feeling better and that the surgery was successful. Glad to see people offering to help. Sundays during the day are impossible for me to get away or else I would volunteer.

just a thought... but if you created a shutterfly account for the event, all the photographers could put their images there and the people could go online and order them...

Thanks all the help on this! I just got home from the hospital today and am fighting the urge to be there to help!

I emailed Ken the Forms the families will need to fill out. I'll need a copy of the form afterwards so I can put the info into the OpLove database.

And I offered this to Ken, and I will offer it to anyone who goes out to shoot.. If you want, I will make up the books and send mail them out so you don't have to bear the cost... It's the least I can do for yall helping me out!

Mel - Thanks for the opportunity to share some special times with our soldiers and their families. The kids visiting with Santa Claus and their comments were hilarious. Just ask Ken which is bigger his or mine (talking cameras folks)! Out of the mouths of innocent children! I would also like to publicly recognize Ken's efforts to make this photo shoot a success. He was instrumental working with Mel and coordinating with the military organization. I don't need to talk about his photographic skills but he had some beautiful pictures that the families will enjoy during the deployment. It was a great afternoon to share with friends, soldiers and their families.
