Let's try a special item style hunt this time.

Steelsun has suggested that this hunt run for two weeks instead of one. That sounds like a good idea to me. This hunt begins now and photos have to be taken before midnight on July 1st. Post them by midnight on the 2nd.

Since we are coming up on the Fourth of July the special item will be an American Flag. It doesn't have to be the central focus of the picture, just recognizable.

In addition to the normal scoring a bonus point will be added to each photo if the flag is already a part of the location and not placed there by you.

Here's the list.
1. orange and white
2. historical marker or monument
3. What time is it?
4. You are here -->
5. courthouse
6. apple pie
7. black gold
8. horns
9. a place of worship
10. a grill
11. locomotive
12. radio tower
13. BBQ!
14. a school building
15. at play
16. a bridge or two
17. Sunny day (or at least not raining!)
18. a cool drink
19. a great restaurant
20. sizzling hot

Have fun shooting!

Brian i think that was a good idea making it a 2 week hunt. Cuz the other way you really didn't have a week once the items were posted and time to stop shooting. Good job...
now let's get out there and shoot up the world

As an FYI: Dollar Tree has American Flags in many sizes for $1 each.

Just got one (about 10 x 14) from them to start placing in my shots.

What did I miss? - 06-20-2007, 02:37 PM

Okay. What fine print did I miss? As I understand special item hunt the item can (and in most cases) will be placed in the frame along with the subject. My intention for the extra bonus point is to encourage people to look for locations or events where the flag was already there. My hope for this is that we will get better shots in and it will help prevent a tie from from mutiple members getting 40 points for grouping items and getting a bonus point for each of them.

As Ed said - there MUST be a flag in each shot - but you can add it yourself (as I will be doing).

But if the flag is already there - you get a bonus point.
I have a few locations where I'll get that!

Opps My bad. I was going to try and have nothing locations where the flag was already there. Makes it a little more difficult to shoot and also more of a challenge to get all 20. But I do have a good start... See ya in da funny papers.... Fyre

Cool Just can't stand to be left out! - 06-21-2007, 07:32 AM

I know I can't win this one but there's no way I'm sitting on the sidelines and doing nothing for two weeks! I also picked up a couple of different styles of flags at Dollar Tree. They had one that is designed to hang on a wall that is great. Incredible for just a buck!

I was thinking a picture of a school with a flag already in it would be a very simple matter. Boy was I wrong! Every school I've driven by has a bare flag pole. I don't know if it's because of summer or because of all of the rain we've been having.

Also "99c Only" has 6 packs of 9x14 plastic flags.
I bought some to try a few patriotic type stock shots also.

Well I don't think I'll be getting to may shot now. I am going in in the morning to bave my back cut on. I have a couple on herinated (sp) disc. And they are pinchi8ng down on the nerves that run down my leg. I am going to cut this short since the pain is starting to get worse the longer I sit here. See y'all in a few days.
