Scavenger Hunt #14 - Antiquities - 08-04-2008, 11:22 AM

If any of you are like me - you LOVE antique stores and even your grandparent's attic full of objects from the past. Here is a scavenger hunt you can do while doing your next prop hunt (or again, if your like me) walking around your house!

I know everyones ideas of "Old" is different, so use it in your own unique way. Some will see the roaring 1920's as 'old' and some will think of the 1980's as 'old'!

Here is my list of 15 Items:
1. Old chair
2. Old clothes
3. Old Jewelry
4. Old Sign
5. Old Vehicle
6. Old people
7. Old Toy
8. Old House
9. Old Vase or decorative glass of somesort
10. Old statue or statuette
11. Old shoe(s).
12. Old plate (or some kind of dining ware)
13. Old doll
14. Old purse, bag or case.
15. Old game.

Enjoy and remember you get more points for including several items in one photo.

You can take the photos for your entry from August 4th - August 31st. Post all entries by midnight August 31st.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. All entries are to be posted right here in this thread.

Happy Hunting!!! -Ara

this sounds like fun... - 08-05-2008, 10:03 AM

... but as a junior member here, I need to ask...

do the images have to be made/collected in the same order as you have numbered them?

do all the named items have to be photograhed by each individual participant?

Nope - you can collect them in any order you would like too. I guess if you want to really challenge yourself you can do them in order - but we would never know anyway!

You can choose to do as many items as you would like - but the more you do the more points you get towards winning. Also - the more items you include in one single photograph give you more points, for example:

1 photograph containing an Old Chair = 1 pt.
1 photograph containing an Old Chair and an Old Shoe = 4 pts. (2 for each item in same photo)

Hope that helps! -Ara

Hmmm... the multiple item thing gives me an idea, but I also need to include an OLD TABLE / LAMPSTAND in the image.

you can include other things too - they just won't count for points if they're not on the list. Heck - in my entry last time I included Batman and he was the main subject - he wasn't even close to being on the list....

thanks. it's not too large is it?

Admittedly my post processing skills are questionable at best. I imported the RAF into Lightroom 1.4 and after some adjusting applied an aged photo preset, then some more adjusting but couldn't get the darks correct.

I should really get a book on Lightroom but everytime I start to read one of those it turns into a yawn fest.

nope - it's not too large for my screen!

I know absolutly nothing about lightroom - so you're ahead of me!!! I use photoshop all the time.

remember you can still add photos for the contest if you get anymore ideas for entries for the rest of this month!

You are actually ahead of me as Photo$hop full version is frightening to me, but I do use PSE6 occasionally. Even though I bought into Lightroom I'm always trying out trial versions of different software, and of the ones I've tried out I really like LightZone over LR and may go with it as opposed to upgrading to LR v2 when it gets out of Beta.

I made a list of the items for when I'm out and about.

Happy shooting everyone!

Great photo Digifilm! Do you realize that your first one has disapeared?? YOu might want to make sure it's up there again by the end of the month so we can make sure to count all your points.

Thanks -Ara

I thought that might happen. It's a Flickr thing. They offer two methods to link but allow only one of them for offsite linking, and that one I cannot get to work here. If you have any suggestions, please enlighten me.

I really don't understand their control issues at Flickr. If you click on the image it goes to my stream on Flickr, correct.

If necessary I'll upload to my (rarely used) Ipernity stream. I don't think they have the same issues as Flickr.... BUT... for some reason the Edit button here won't work for me. It just sits there and spins. So I may have to repost.
