I was thinking that it might be beneficial for all involved if there was a designator under one's avatar if one is under the age of 18. I can definitely think of times when responses to posts would be quite different if this information was available.
I may be totally out of line, but it's a thought that has occurred to me on several occasions. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Possibly. But me, being a younger photographer, sorta find it discriminating. Could just be me, but It might offer some help.

Will there be a category for "Older than Dirt?" But I do see your point. My advice to an 18 year old would be different than to someone that is 35.

I find age irrelevant to a forum, but that's just my opinion. Everyone who participates deserves respect, no matter age or level of experience.

It's not meant as discriminatory. I can definitely thing of times here on TPF where a younger photographer (say 12-16) would get better responses if their age was known. I'm just thinking of them. It doesn't effect me one bit. Just trying to be helpful.

I know you don't mean it to be discriminatory. Just my life has made me think of things differently. But, yeah, I think it would help...

And the age listing can be optional. I don't mind listing my age, but some might rather keep it private.

The forum software could use that info to automatically add some age designator under your username. And it doesn't have to show your actual age. I'm thinking that if you were under a certain age, lets say you are 17 or younger, there were would a title added under your username that said "junior photographer" or something to that effect. All of us who are 18 or older would have nothing different than we do now.

Display age and full Month and Date of Birth | I have that feature turned on, but it doesn't seem to show up.
